I Can’t Believe I’m About To Say This, But…

Tom Brady really is the GOAT

Ugh… That hurts to say and type.

Growing up in TN and being at the University of Tennessee while Peyton Manning was there has obviously created some bias. Peyton will always be the GOAT for those of us who lived through the glory days of Volunteer football. Not to mention he doesn’t mind throwing a fully inflated football. But at the root of it, there was always a struggle (at least in my own mind) for who was the modern day greatest quarterback. But I’m afraid to say, that the debate can now be completely laid to rest after what I unfortunately witnessed this past NFL season. Brady packed his things, headed to a new team, and with the help of the Tampa Bay Bucs, he assembled a crew of football mercenaries to swoop in and snatch the Lombardi Trophy. Brady, Gronk, Brown, and Fournette were never names that I thought’d I’d see together on a team sheet, yet somehow they all helped to play a part in solidifying what looks to be the final nail in the coffin for the “Who is the true GOAT” conversation.

First of all, let’s not forget that this is who we are talking about right now:

Btw, I’m in no place to critique physique, but I still find it hard to believe that this is what the Greatest of All Time looks like.

But let’s take a stroll down NFL career statistics lane shall we?

  • 79,202 passing yards
  • 581 – 191 Touchdown to Interception ratio
  • 64% completion rating
  • 97.3 passer rating
  • 10 Superbowl appearances
  • 7 SUPERBOWL WINS

Not that his recent Super Bowl win was what truly solidified it for the masses, but for people like me who just didn’t want to admit or believe it. There’s no question about it, and I don’t want to talk about it ever again.
